Scan through the emails to read the updates that have come in from Berekum this week.
Emmanuel Baptist Church of Berekum is holding VBS this week in three different locations. One is in Berekum proper, the other is in the village of Jinijini the church plant of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and the third is located in the community where we have plans to start a ministry in the fall of 2011. The community is Brenyekwa.
On Monday Pastor Steven wrote to inform us that they had a total of 407 students attend. 150 in Berekum, 107 in Jinijini and 150 in Brenyekwa.
Pray for the teachers as they work with these large crowds of children. Pray also for the students. That they will understand the gospel. We will keep you posted and hope to have pictures to share from the various clubs in a few days .

August 17, 2010 report from Pastor Seth
Hi,
VBS went well yesterday and today. Jinijini had 107 yesterday and 130 today. Nyamebekyere had about 150 yesterday and I am not sure of today. Brenyekwa had about 121 yesterday and today 110. The number reduced in Brenyekwa because it rained all morning. We were expecting the the numbers in all the centers will be reduced today because of the rain.
It has been an encouraging week so far seeing the kids come in their numbers and also sitting attentively to listen the Bible stories. I can not say anything decisions for salvation yet but, I know the Lord is working in many hearts.
There are about 17 people involve by way of teaching and helping.
Continue to pray with us for the rest of the week. Saturday will be a big rally in Jinijini for games and other activities.

Hello once again,
We continue to enjoy the week with many activities. My heart is always full of praise when hear the kids respond with the right answers about salvation. I see that in many of the kids in RBY and RBK who are attending VBS. Jinijini had the largest number so far (in Jinijini) yesterday with 168 in attendance. The room was full of kids and I told the story of Daniel’s friends and how they were saved from the fire of the king. When I got to the point of them being called out from the furnacedaf, all the kids responded with clap for the Lord. I was so happy and heart was full of joy that they have understood the power of the Lord of the Lord and what He can do. One of the girls in Jinijini (Charity) prepared some food for the teachers yesterday and I must say I was surprise to see her do that.

Nyamebekyere recorded about 180 in attendance yesterday. It is so amazing and we thank you so much for your prayer support. I am thinking about next year what we will do. I am thinking if we could have a camp but the question is how to finance it. We need to be praying for the Lord’s direction in that. Brenyekwa also had about 132 in attendance. So far it is Brenyekwa that seem to be having some challenges. Quansh was suppose to be the leader over there but it seems he doesn’t have the time to be there always. We are working on solving the situation for today and tomorrow.

Church on Sunday was also encouraging when Pastor preached on holiness. Sister Vivian came to church for thanksgiving and we were all happy to see hear in her feet once. She could not walk properly after she was discharged from the hospital but, on Sunday we saw her walking and praising the Lord for delivering her from that situation. The room was packed with people. Attendance have been encouraging of late for Sunday mornings and the evening services. Pastor Seth
I want to praise the Lord for all that He is doing here in Ghana

We brought VBS to a close today, except that we are hoping to send the children from Bre Nye Kwa and Nyamebekyere to Jinijini to join children there to have fun games together to climax it. I think we had a successful program. Let me try to provide a few statistics here for you.Nyamebekyere recorded a little over 150 children from Monday to Friday.Bre Nye Kwa recorded between 140 to 160 from Monday to Friday. Jinijini on Thursday seemed our most successful story, as we recorded 170 over. Generally, from Monday to Friday, they recorded between 150 to 170 there.
Teachers, helpers and pastors were divided among these 3 places. What we did was that different people who were new to a place were sent there for the children to interact with different teachers and helpers other than the regular faces they always see. Except that leaders were left at these places to help organized the childrenand also to be help in identifying the children. So Oteng was the leader at Jinijini, Kwadwo (King James) was for the Nyamebekyere and Brother Quansah for Bre Nye Kwa. The rest were new faces to the children to some extend at these places. For the pastors, it went like this, Pastor Seth went to Jinijini, Pastor Steven for Bre Nye Kwa (he was also to help lead the songs too there), and I was for Nyamebekyere. King James coupled with been the leader also lead the songs, and Evans to take care of singing at Jinijini.
I’m going to try to attach some pictures I took with my cell phone for you.
