See the Progress on the church building#
When we left Berekum the church had purchased the land that they planned to build on, but they had not been able to proceed any further. Since we left Berekum in May of 2010; they have been able to have plans drawn up for the future church building, secure the permits to build, and construction was started! In the last year the church has had three offerings specifically to raise funds for the building. In February they paid about 1,700 GH Cedis ($1, 214) towards the land. In October in another special offering they gave 2.227 GH Cedis ($ 1,590) and then once again in December they took up 800 GH Cedis ($517), in addition to pledges totaling 1,700 GH Cedis ($1,214) that means that within the past year the special offerings for the church building have totaled $4535.
God has provided so that we also have been able to come along beside them and give a $5.700 to help with the project. In December when it was critical to complete the building to a point where they could move in the Faith Baptist Church of Townsend took on as their special offering for Christmas the building project in Berekum and they were able to send $3,197. We wired the money to Pastor Seth and building has progressed as you can see in the photos included in the letter. It has been a time for all of us to grow and see that just as Paul encouraged the believers in Corinth in 2 Cor 3:5 “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything of ourselves, but our sufficiency is of God.”
Praise God with us as we rejoice in what God has done and will continue to do for these believers. Not just in putting up a building, but helping them to have the heart to give and participate as they have done.
